Cleveland police gave order for George Floyd protesters to disperse; legal observers, witnesses said no one heard it

During the peaceful protest coordinated in Downtown Cleveland on Saturday, May 30, police escalated violence and chaos by dispersing crowds through firing tear gas and shooting wooden bullets.

Cleveland police claim ample warning was given for crowds to depart the area before violent measures were taken to disperse demonstrators, but numerous eyewitness, including Friedman & Gilbert partner Sarah Gelsomino, heard no such warnings.

We are outraged by Cleveland Police’s reaction to Saturday’s protests and call on the department to acknowledge their wrongdoing and unlawful escalation at these events.
