Understanding Policing in the 21st Century, Presented by Cleveland Public Library

Join us for a free webinar featuring conversation between civil rights and criminal defense lawyers, Terry Gilbert and Gordon Friedman

Police brutality is currently in the spotlight but problems with policing are by no means new. Communities of color and minority communities have suffered harsh policing, disparate treatment, and injustice in our country's justice system for over 400 years.

On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. EST, civil rights and criminal defense lawyers Terry Gilbert and Gordon Friedman from Friedman, Gilbert + Gerhardstein will discuss the current moment in which policing and criminal justice remains under a brighter spotlight than ever. Their personal and professional historical perspectives put today's events in context and provide insight into potential paths to a more just future. Audience Q&A with the speakers will follow their conversation. The Zoom webinar is free to attend with online registration.

This event is offered in connection with Cleveland Public Library's Writers & Readers Series.
